We’ve all been in situations at work when someone says or does something that feels hostile or offensive to some aspect of our identity. These kinds of actions — insensitive statements, dismissive comments, condescending attitudes and exclusions from opportunities and decision-making processes - are called “microaggressions” and can come from both men and other women. With more than 2/3 of all women reporting that they have experienced microaggressions in the workplace, clearly, it’s a pervasive and damaging issue and can in fact negatively impact one’s health, one’s job satisfaction, and one’s desire to advance in their career. In this session you will gain expert tips on how to use Emotional Intelligence to understand why microaggressions show up and how to respond productively.
